High-Speed Steel (HSS) Rolls are advanced composite mill rolls engineered for modern hot rolling mills.

Compared with conventional ICDP rolls and high-chromium iron rolls, HSS rolls provide 3–5 times longer groove life, excellent hot
hardness, superior wear resistance, and outstanding thermal fatigue resistance. They help steel mills reduce roll consumption, improve
rolling efficiency, and lower the overall cost per ton of steel produced.

Why Steel Mills Choose CYKC Group HSS Rolls

The high-speed steel rolls produced by CYKC Group are tailored to meet specific rolling requirements. They are developed according to the rolling material, mill sequence, and rolling characteristics.
Our wear-resistant High-Speed Steel rolls are specifically designed for rolling reinforcing bars, wire rods, sections, and other long steel products.
CYKC Group is also developing a new generation of high-strength, heat crack-resistant, and wear-resistant rolls for endless rolling production lines. CYKC Group has optimized the composition of high-speed steel rolls to prevent segregation issues in centrifugal production. It has also enhanced the heat treatment process to ensure uniform roll hardness.

Key Features
• Composite HSS working layer with ductile iron core
• Excellent wear resistance
• Outstanding thermal fatigue resistance
• Stable hardness throughout the working layer
• Lower roll consumption
• Improved rolled product quality
High Speed Steel (HSS) Rolls are premium work rolls designed for modern hot rolling mills. Compared with conventional ICDP rolls and high chromium cast iron rolls, HSS rolls provide significantly longer campaign life, superior wear resistance, and better surface quality. They are widely used in bar mills, wire rod mills, section mills, and hot strip mills.
1. 3–5× Longer Groove Life
HSS rolls offer a quantum leap in wear resistance compared to conventional rolls.
Feature: The steel output per groove (pass) is 3 to 5 times higher than that of standard Indefinite Chilled Double Poured (ICDP) rolls.
Customer Benefit: Dramatically extends the roll’s service life and reduces the frequency of roll replacement.
2. Superior Thermal Stability & “Red Hardness”
Engineered for extreme environments, HSS maintains its structural integrity where others fail.
Feature: High carbon and alloy content (Cr, Mo, W, V, Nb) ensure excellent red hardness and heat resistance.
Customer Benefit: Prevents thermal cracking and maintains high hardness even under high-temperature continuous rolling conditions.
3. Self-Protecting Dense Oxide Film
The chemistry of HSS allows for the formation of a specialized protective layer during operation.
Feature: A uniform and dense oxide film forms on the roll surface, acting as a lubricant and barrier.
Customer Benefit: Enhances the surface roughness of the rolled material and eliminates “sticking” issues, ensuring a premium finish on the final steel product.
4. Maximized Mill Efficiency & Downtime Reduction
Efficiency is the key to industrial profitability.
Feature: By significantly reducing roll change frequency, HSS rolls allow for longer continuous production runs.
Customer Benefit: Increases the mill operating rate, lowers labor intensity, and ensures a smoother, more predictable production schedule.
5. Significant Reduction in Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
While the initial investment in HSS may be higher, the long-term ROI is unmatched.
Feature: Lower roll consumption per ton of steel produced.
Customer Benefit: Lower production costs and enhanced overall enterprise profitability by optimizing the cost-to-output ratio.
Lower roll consumption, reduced maintenance costs, and longer production campaigns result in a lower cost per ton of steel produced.

High-Speed Steel (HSS) rolls are widely used in hot rolling mills for long steel products. They are suitable for roughing, intermediate, pre-finishing, and finishing stands in bar mills, wire rod mills, section mills, and hot strip mills.

| Rolling Mill | Recommended Stand |
| Bar Mill | Intermediate & Finishing |
| Wire Rod Mill | Pre-finishing & Finishing |
| Hot Strip Mill | F1-F7 |
| Section Mill | Intermediate |
| Merchant Mill | Finishing |
| Rebar Mill | Finishing |
Optimal improvement of production conditions:

If the on-site working conditions cannot meet the water pipe requirements in the above figure, improvements can be made according to the following figure.

| Item | HSS | ICDP |
| Wear Resistance | Excellent | Good |
| Hot Hardness | Excellent | Moderate |
| Roll Life | 3–5× Longer | Standard |
| Roll Consumption | Lower | Higher |
| Production Efficiency | Higher | Lower |
Compared with ICDP rolls, High-Speed Steel (HSS) rolls provide significantly longer service life, higher hot hardness, lower roll consumption, and improved rolling efficiency, making them the preferred choice for modern high-speed rolling mills.

Typical hardness, chemical composition, and mechanical properties can be customized according to rolling mill type, stand position, and rolling conditions.

Paint the high-viscosity rust protection grease, cover the rolls with plastic film, and then use a blue hard polyester plate outside.
Finally, use a Steel belt and iron stand to fix the rolls.

Every roll is supplied with inspection reports upon request.
Every High-Speed Steel roll undergoes comprehensive quality inspection before shipment, including chemical composition analysis, hardness testing, ultrasonic testing (UT), metallographic examination, dynamic balancing, and dimensional inspection to ensure consistent quality and reliable rolling performance.
