The Maintenance of Carbide Composite Roll

Before use, operators must carefully read the Guidelines for the Use of Composite Rolls and become familiar with all post-specific requirements and precautions.

Identify and distinguish the upper and lower rolls according to the Guidelines for the Use of Composite Rolls. Clearly mark them before installation. (We recommend using sample punching on the shaft end or applying paint for clear identification.)

Check the cooling water pressure (recommended: 0.4–0.6 Mpa), inspect water volume, and verify pipe layout before operating. Align the water pipes with the rolling groove and ensure that the water nozzles are unblocked. Start the machine only after confirming all conditions are met. Inspect for pipe displacement or nozzle blockage every 4 hours.

During rolling, monitor the bearing seat closely. Stop rolling immediately if you detect any abnormal conditions.

Follow the approved rolling system strictly for each groove’s rolling tonnage. Avoid excessive rolling. If you notice any abnormal groove surface issues (such as filament-like marks), halt the operation to investigate. If you find small cracks, replace the groove or remove the composite roll from production immediately.

In case of stuck or piled steel, lift the upper roll without delay. Continue water cooling until the temperature of the rolled part decreases sufficiently. After rolling the last piece, cool the rolls for about 5 minutes before changing them to avoid thermal damage.

During up/down transfer, handle rolls carefully to avoid collisions. Fix and protect them properly during storage.

Every time you install or remove the rolls, inspect all parts to ensure they are intact and properly tightened. If you discover any abnormality, report it immediately and take action to ensure safety before proceeding.

Inspect bolts, threads, hydraulic nut oil plugs, and other key parts regularly (recommended monthly) to ensure tight fastening and good surface condition. Perform anti-rust treatment if necessary.

If not in use for a long time, protect exposed bolts, threads, plugs, and core holes with butter or similar anti-corrosion substances.

During storage, coat the entire roll with protective oil. Prevent any contact with corrosive materials to avoid damage.

If bolts or spacers become severely corroded from long-term inactivity, inspect their condition carefully. Perform maintenance or replace components before reuse, depending on actual conditions.
